COVID-19 Vaccine Central

The Macomb County Health Department is an authorized provider of the COVID-19 vaccine. Working under strict guidelines issued by the CDC and Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), residents can be assured that the vaccine is being properly stored, appropriately administered and available at no cost for all who are eligible to receive it. Our professional and friendly staff are committed to making the process as safe and easy as possible.

Appointments are preferred. Walk-ins are accepted based on vaccine availability. New appointments are added on a daily basis. Eligible individuals are encouraged to check the system frequently, as changes and additions are made in real time.

Who can get vaccinated?

The COVID-19 vaccine is currently available to anyone age 5 and older. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Booster Dose Eligibility
All persons aged 12 years and older should receive a booster dose of COVID-19 vaccine.  Currently, CDC does not recommend a booster dose for children aged 5–11 years.

Pfizer-BioNTech recipients age 12 and older should get a booster at least 5 months after their primary series. Only the Pizer-BioNTech booster can be used for eligible individuals age 12-17. Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna (mRNA COVID-19 vaccines) are preferred in most* situations.

Moderna recipients age 18 and older should get a booster at least 5 months after their primary series. Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna (mRNA COVID-19 vaccines) are preferred in most* situations.

Johnson & Johnson recipients age 18 and older should get a Pfizer or Moderna booster at least 2 months after their initial shot.

*Although mRNA vaccines are preferred, J&J/Janssen COVID-19 vaccine may be considered in some situations.

Additional Dose Eligibility
People with moderately to severely compromised immune systems are especially vulnerable to COVID-19, and may not build the same level of immunity to 2-dose vaccine series compared to people who are not immunocompromised.

People age 5 and older who are moderately or severely immunocompromised should get an additional primary shot of Pfizer-BioNTech COIVD-19 vaccine 28 days after their 2nd shot.

People age 18 and older who are moderately or severely immunocompromised should get an additional primary shot of Moderna or Pfizer-BioNTech COIVD-19 vaccine 28 days after their 2nd shot.

No additional primary shot is recommended at this time for individuals who have received the Johnson and Johnson vaccine as their primary series.

Important Information

  • Only the person being vaccinated will be allowed in the building to maintain safe social distancing. Exceptions will be made for a family member or caregiver to accompany someone who needs assistance getting into the building.
  • Face masks are required to be worn inside the building.
  • Do not bring children who are not scheduled for a vaccination to your appointment.
  • Please reschedule your appointment if you are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19 (such as fever, cough, chills, etc.)
  • There is no cost for vaccination and your insurance will not be billed.
  • Please bring a photo ID card
  • If you are able, a print out of the COVID-19 Vaccination Form (based on client’s age):
  • Only the Pfizer vaccine is approved for use for those aged 5 to 17.
  • If you are returning for your 2nd dose, Additional Dose, or Booster, bring your COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card.

MyCare Health Center

MyCare Health Center is offering the Moderna vaccine at our Center Line (586-756-7777) and Mount Clemens (586-783-2222), locations. Appointment is required. Available for individuals 18 and older. For more information visit: www.mycarehealthcenter.org.
